Quick answers to help you get the most out of SiteRooster

🚀 Getting Started

How do I add a website to monitor?

From your dashboard, enter your website URL in the “Add New Site” field and click “Add Site”. SiteRooster will immediately begin monitoring uptime, SSL certificates, and domain expiration.

How often does SiteRooster check my websites?

Check frequency depends on your plan. Free plans check every 5 minutes, while paid plans (Small, Medium, Enterprise) check every 1 minute for faster detection.

What does SiteRooster monitor?

SiteRooster monitors:

  • Uptime/availability (real HTTP requests)
  • SSL certificate validity and expiration
  • Domain expiration dates
  • Content changes via site crawling
  • Specific keywords appearing or disappearing
  • Individual page changes
How do I access my dashboard?

Log in at siterooster.com/login and you’ll be taken directly to your dashboard. You can also click “Dashboard” in the navigation menu when logged in.

What do the status colors mean?

Green indicates your site is online and healthy.
Red means the site is down or unreachable.

The Free plan includes 1 monitored site, 5-minute check intervals, 10 crawled pages, 1 keyword monitor, and 1 page monitor. Notifications are not included on Free plans.

How do I upgrade my plan?

Visit the Pricing page and select your desired plan. You’ll be redirected to our secure Stripe checkout. Your account upgrades instantly after payment.

Is there a discount for annual billing?

Yes! Annual plans save 20% compared to monthly billing. For example, the Medium plan is $29/month or $278/year (equivalent to $23/month).

Can I downgrade or cancel my subscription?

Yes. Go to your Account page and click “Manage Subscription” to access the Stripe customer portal where you can change plans or cancel anytime.

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept all major credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express) through our secure Stripe payment processor.

🔔 Monitoring & Alerts

How do notifications work?

When SiteRooster detects an issue (site down, SSL expiring, etc.), we send alerts via your configured channels. Available channels depend on your plan:

  • Email — Small plan and above
  • SMS — Medium plan and above
  • Webhooks — Enterprise plan only
Why didn’t I get an alert when my site went down?

Check your Notification Settings to ensure alerts are enabled for that site. Also verify your email isn’t marking alerts as spam, or that your phone number is verified for SMS alerts.

How do I set up SMS notifications?

Go to Notification Settings, add your phone number, and click “Verify”. You’ll receive a verification code via SMS. Once verified, you can enable SMS alerts for any site. SMS requires a Medium or Enterprise plan.

What’s the difference between uptime monitoring and content monitoring?

Uptime monitoring checks if your site is accessible (responds to requests).

Content monitoring crawls your pages to detect text changes, track keywords, or monitor specific pages for modifications.

Can I configure different alerts for different sites?

Yes! Each site has independent notification settings. Visit the Notifications page to configure email, SMS, and webhook alerts per site.

🕷️ Content Crawling

What is site crawling?

Crawling visits pages on your website to index content. This enables keyword monitoring (detect when terms appear/disappear) and page monitoring (detect when content changes).

How many pages can SiteRooster crawl?

Page limits vary by plan:

  • Free — 10 pages
  • Small — 100 pages
  • Medium — 5,000 pages
  • Enterprise — 10,000 pages
How often does crawling happen?

Automatic crawl frequency depends on your plan. Free plans crawl weekly. Paid plans can crawl daily. You can also trigger manual crawls from the site detail page.

What are keyword monitors?

Keyword monitors track specific words or phrases across your crawled pages. You can be alerted when a keyword appears (e.g., “error”) or disappears (e.g., your brand name is removed).

What are page monitors?

Page monitors track specific URLs for any content changes. When the page content changes, you’ll be notified. Useful for monitoring competitor pages, pricing pages, or legal documents.

🔐 Account & Security

How do I reset my password?

Click “Forgot Password” on the login page. Enter your email address and we’ll send you a password reset link.

How do I delete a monitored site?

Open the site from your dashboard, go to the Settings tab, and scroll to the “Danger Zone” section. Click “Delete This Site” and confirm. This permanently removes all monitoring data.

Is my data secure?

Yes. All data is transmitted over HTTPS. Passwords are securely hashed. Payment information is handled by Stripe and never touches our servers.

Can I export my monitoring data?

Currently, data export is not available through the dashboard. Contact support if you need historical data for your sites.
